CFCC® uses overlapped polyester yarn (PET) wraps (min. 0.05mm) as galvanic protection barrier. Protection performance of CFCC® far exceeds the benchmark of the ACSR galvanized steel core.
We have provided 20-year field exposure and numerous corrosion tests, and one of the 2000-hours salt fog tests demonstrates adequate protection of the aluminum strands even with the protection layer removed, showing that the polymer matrix resin provides a considerable degree of galvanic protection while ACSR® (galvanized steel core) was severely degraded and unserviceable after exposure in the same test condition.
The protection system of CFCC® is well proven over 30 years of civil engineering applications and over 20 years of field and laboratory experience for the overhead lines application and there is not a single example of corrosion issues associated with the polyester yarn (PET) wraps
